Basketball and Nail Polish: 30 Day Challenge Day 1 Lakers

Its All Star week in the basketball season so I decided to a 30 day NBA Challenge it's not nail art specific you just have to capture the essence of the team, I am starting with The Western Conference and making my way to The Eastern Conference!!!

The rules to the challenge are simple 30 days 30 teams It doesn't have to be nail art but you can I will be trying some nail art and you can just to a manicure with the team colors.

YOU MUST USE AT LEAST 2 OF THE TEAM COLORS

So I present to you Day 1

The Los Angeles Lakers

Just a little history on the Lakers

The franchise started with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, The Detroit Gems of the NBL.

The new team began play in Minneapolis, Minnesota, calling themselves the Lakers in honor of the state's nickname, "Land of 10,000 Lakes". The Lakers won five championships in Minneapolis, propelled by center George Mikan, who is described by the NBA'S official website as the league's "first superstar".

After struggling financially in the late 1950's following Mikans retirement they relocated to Los Angeles before the 1960-61 season.

The Lakers have 17 Championships, 32 Conference Titles, 22 Division Titles,

and have retired 7 Players/Jersey numbers

The Lakers are currently 5th in the 2011-12 season with 20 wins and 14 losses

Their official colors are Purple, Gold, and White

I used OPI Funky Dunky and NYX Girls Gilded Glitter perfect combo for the Lakers Purple and Gold main parts of the their Logo

So I wanted to try some stamping today so I did, from far away the mani is cute and it's even cute enough to leave on for a couple days. I used For Audrey as the base, FingerPaints Black Expressionism for the cheetah stamp, and OPI Pink Friday for the pink dots. the topcoat smeared the black a little but for my first real attempt Im over all really pleased!!!

I today I have something special for 2 people very dear to my heart One of my Polish Girls daughters had a medical emergency in which she is surely but slowly making progress and alot of us that are doing these mani's also sent her cards so that she know's that we care and she is in our prayers and thoughts.

One of the first things I ever learned about Dyan was that she loves The KottonMouth Kings well it just so happens that I love The KottonMouth Kings as well so I was estatic that we had common interests in music!!

Which brings me to my Team Dyan Mani

I am proud of this mani I did used a stamp plate and some nail art pens for the black and silver lettering and I used WnW Ink Well for the base and Colorclub Perfect Mol-Ten for the lettering and accent nails

I have a comparison post for everyone today, I participated in the 2 free zoyas for shipping and chose Veruska and Savita so I was so excited about this and proceeded to tell my friend Chilli about my purchase. So, with that being said she then proceeds to ask me if I had O.P.I Here Today Aragon Tommorow Suede.

I said yes and she say's I think their dupes....

So the final result is that Verushka is a wee bit darker and the it looks as if the finish is more satiny that Here Today Aragon Tommorow Suede is more of a... well a Suede finish I think they are similar enough that if you have one you don't necessarily need the other but if your loving the subtle difference like I am then you definantly need them both

All colors were opaque in 2 coats except for Daddy's Girl it still had slight VNL but the color is such a beautiful purple it's they are all generally very opaque and and 2 coaters and they have Nail Art Stripers also I love the 2 I have here and plan to purchase more

The Glitters were opaque in 2 coats at first I thought they were gonna be so pretty for layering but I was wrong the first coat was pretty opaque so I added the 2nd coat just for sure measure and they are AMAZING

Hello lovely followers! Jen has asked me back again for another Franken Friday post! WOW what an honor. Today I have for you one of my favorite frankens. I got started in frankening when I first saw Deborah Lippmann's Glitter In The Air--when I saw how much it cost I said whaaaaaaat? That's crazy expensive for a polish (that was my early days lol!) I know I could make something that looked just like it for alot less and therefore I did. I did the same with Essie Starry Starry Night and China Glaze's Grape Crush and I've done it again with Butter London's Black Knight!
I decided to name my franken dupe of Black Knight--Gawain. I love the stories of the Knights of the Round Table and Gawain is one of my favorite knights. He is considered the purest knight by his fellow knights--how terrific is that?

Here's a flash shot of him so you can see the tiny bit of holo glitter I added to him for some extra "punch"

The real beauty about Gawain though is his price! I was able to make him for less than $5! Now to me that's a bargain you can't pass up!

So I have something extra special for everyone today I can honestly say this is my newest addiction and FizzButter made it possible I can truly say these are some of the most relaxing and luxurious bathes I have ever taken I recieved large bath bombs in the smells of The Love Bomb,

The Calm Bomb, and Sandalwood Vanilla Bomb I used two of them and let my friend Crystal have the Sandalwood Vanilla Bomb because I am not to keen on vanilla smell things (I have this same dislike for artificial watermelon) So, I will be including some input from her as well

They came in a nice big box with lots of peanuts

(I used to chew on these when I was younger cause I thought they were actual peanuts)

I unfortunantly didn't get to take pictures of the bath water of this one my camera died as I was running the bath water but The Calm Bomb was amazing it made the water purple also another one of my favorite colors FizzButter describes this bath bomb as a clean bright scent with notes of succulent grapefruit, tangerine, petitgrain, lily rose, and white rose. My opinions on this nail lacquer is OMG ITS SO MUCH FUN!!!!

the applcation was amazing I only used 2 coats of polish and the gold oooh the gold is sooooo pretty and then when it turns to black its really pretty the gold glitters look layered over the pretty black color

It changed in the sun really quickly like very quickly and it wasn't any weak color change either it went from straight up bright glittering gold to black with a nice gold shimmer

as we all know glitters are a pain to remove but I say otherwise on this polish I had no problems taking these glitters off at all

Hi there ladies! The lovely Jennifer has asked me to do a Franken Friday post for her today and I feel
honored! I first got into frankening simply because I fell in love with some polishes no longer available or some

asked for it on ebay. Well imagine my surprise when I got it and it was not a rich chocolate brown at all rather
a gold. Well it's an OPI Designer Series polish so I'm not crazy enough to not want it lol! But I still longed for
that rich chocolate brown holo. So ladies I did what I call the cardinal sin in frankening and I frankened with
an OPI DS polish to make a brown holo! I decanted a small amount of my Desire and mixed it with some
nice OPI chocolates I had to come up with this lovely brown. Brown always reminds me of cowboys for
some reason and those of you who know me know I love to name my frankens after my favorite books--so I
give you Rode Hard And Put Up Wet!!

Isn't she a beauty ladies? Some of my polish friends have asked me to make a bottle of this for them and I

told him it's just too expensive (and crazy) to franken with an OPI Designer Series polish BUT I have an idea

of how I can come up with this gorgeous color using some SpectraFlair pigment so hopefully I can return with

some good news about it in the future!

My opinion on this polish one it's not matte it's a really pretty deep amazing red this is only 2 coats I could of used 3 to make it even deeper but even at 2 coats it was very bold and vibrant

NOBEL Navy is described as A sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings dimension to tips and toes alike

If you want a deep Navy for fall this is the color for you I love this Navy I am not to big on the blues but this SUPER dark blue is perfect to complete any look for this Fall!

So my Polish Mommy Lori has recommended this Sally Hansen Triple Strong she says she hasn't had a break in 9 months and I must say her nails a beautiful and long so I am excited to see the process and I this will be a successful endeavor I would also like to apologize for all the nakedness you will be seeing here in the coming weeks!!!

and I got a surprise Nail Mail from Claudia in the Netherlands it was very sweet and the little note card she sent was cute and witty card

- Yes and it's cold very very cold I very much so dislike the cold being from where it stays decently warm during the day in the winter

-I am loving the color changing topcoats their deep jeweltone colors that are amazing!!!
